The waiter was very friendly, and when we expressed interest in sitting outside in the courtyard, he kindly warned us about the hot 30-degree London weather (we were two tired, jet-lagged Kiwis!), so we chose to sit inside instead. The service was prompt, the food was amazing, the atmosphere was lovely, and the restaurant was located in a charming part of town.
What a great find on our way to sightseeing in Notting Hill we stopped at The Sun in Splendor. Staff were great and food excellent as well as drink. We had fish and chips (very good) and they were having our favorite champagne as a special on Friday when in London so we ate and came back after sightseeing Portobello Road and sat in the garden and drank a bottle of Veuve Clicquot
We came here last summer (2022), loved it and made it our first stop when we returned to Notting Hill this summer (2023). The food, drinks and service were just as good. The fish and chips are the best I've ever had. The back patio area is both open and cozy. The servers were friendly and attentive something you don't always get in London pubs. Can't wait to return next summer.
This restaurant is best described as average. There is nothing negative about the pub, but there is also nothing outstanding about it either (except for the attractive facade from the outside). The food was okay, not great but not something I would want to splurge on either. The staff was friendly enough, but lacked enthusiasm and didn't engage in conversation. It's a decent spot for grabbing a few drinks, especially if you're sitting outside, but I wouldn't recommend it for a dinner outing.
Had fun with friends! Crispy Calamari, Nachos Chicken Schnitzel were great! Mexican Lime Radler was super good!
