Avalon Gastropub - Kilauea

I highly recommend dining at Avalon while you're in Kauai! We tried the Scotch egg, Asian tacos, truffle fries, fried Brussels sprouts, the pot pie of the day (which featured turkey, carrots, béchamel, and mashed potatoes), and the deep-fried brioche bread pudding. The Asian tacos were my least favorite, but everything else was exceptional. Although they appeared to be short-staffed, the food was definitely worth the wait. We arrived around 5 or 6 pm on a Wednesday and managed to get a seat outdoors, but it did get busier as the evening went on, making it seem like reservations would be advisable for later dining. A visit here is absolutely worthwhile!

The drinks and food at this restaurant are fantastic. I had the Red Light Negroni and the Mezcal White Negroni, and both had a great balance of flavors, but I preferred the Red Light version. I also sampled their Scotch egg, fried mac and cheese, octopus salad, and fish and chips. The fried dishes were excellent—crispy but not overly greasy or heavy. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Kauai.

The food and drinks were incredible! My favorite was the Pub Steak and the Whiskey Mai Tai. The staff was fantastic and very friendly! I will definitely come back the next time I'm in Kauai!

After our meal, the owner even came out to chat with us and truly made us feel like part of the family. I also learned that his wife bakes the desserts, and I highly recommend the bread pudding! The smoked poutine fries were incredible, and the scotch egg is definitely worth trying. You could really tell they cared about our experience, and we will absolutely be coming back. For our first visit to Kauai, I couldn't have asked for a better restaurant experience. Thank you, Avalon!

Without a doubt, this is the best meal I've ever had on the island. I've been visiting for the last 22 years and I can't recommend it highly enough. The food is outstanding, and the staff and atmosphere are equally amazing. For dessert, we tried the deep-fried bread pudding, and it was absolutely delicious!
