When I called to inquire about vegan options, the staff seemed unfriendly at first, possibly due to the high volume of tourists. Despite this, I decided to visit the restaurant. Thankfully, the staff in-person were friendly, attentive, and answered all of our questions, making for a more pleasant experience. We ended up ordering the only vegan sushi options on the menu as well as a miso soup. I noticed that the miso soup came from a dried form or package, which was then hydrated with warm water. Overall, I enjoyed the sushi rolls and sushi burritos, although some items were a bit pricey. This was to be expected, however.
For vegans, the only options available were a vegan sushi burrito (which was delicious) and a vegetable roll (which was just okay). We also tried the edamame, which was the highlight of our meal. However, the miso soup was quite average. Overall, it was a mixed experience for vegan diners.
The dining experience and service at this restaurant were fantastic. It seems like the previous reviewer may have just caught them on a bad day. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, willing to make almost everything on the menu vegetarian or vegan by replacing sauces and proteins. The food was delicious, especially when paired with a juice from the Kauai Juice Co across the street. I also recommend checking out the Healthy Hat Market Cafe for some healthy options. Overall, a great dining experience.
