Hickie's - Kilkee

As hotel guest, went for a drink at residents bar mostly a restaurant with a counter . Invited to seat at counter next to several used glasses , several be with you in 2 minutes before order taken , served and billed. Good vantage point to notice staff was overwhelmed. Was informed at hotel reception on arrival at 6:30pm that restaurant served until 8:30pm but when asked politely at the bar if i could get a table for just 1 at 8, everything was fully booked ... Not a very good experience

Worst experience of an otherwise brilliant Ireland holiday. We were told on arrival that it 's busy it could take 15 minutes before our food order can be taken . In fact it took 40 minutes. And then it took another 30 minutes before the food actually arrived. T 'was only a couple of burgers, hardly rocket science. So an hour and ten minutes between arriving at the restaurant and our food actually arriving. OK, we got given some bread while we waited whoopee duppie but we didn 't go out for a meal of bread and butter. At the same time as the plates finally arriving someone a bit more senior than our table server appeared to enquire why we were unhappy (and yes, the ensuing debate further delayed us from being able to actually get to eat). Was there an apology for the delay? Not really. It seemed to be our fault for coming on a busy night; and not just that my fault for ordering a burger that takes 20 minutes to cook (plus, apparently, an additional ten minutes to get around to start cooking it). Clearly, I have just the most unreasonable expectations. The food itself? Nothing remarkable, but perhaps we had gone past feeling hungry by the time the food arrived. Look, I get it some nights get busy and there are delays. But we were told the delay might be 15 minutes. Had the restaurant been properly up front with us at the start we would at least have had the option to go elsewhere. We really wish we had. The lack of a proper attempt by 'management ' to see the experience from our point of view means we certainly won 't be going back again.

Delicious food, roast pork was mouthwatering . The staff were lovely, very efficient service.

A fabulous place for brunch, lunch, or dinner. Hickies also serve the most amazing cocktails. Something for everyone.
