Shimla - Kilkenny

We visited on a Sunday and tried their lunch buffet, where you can choose from a selection of starters and main courses. However, they could improve on explaining what is included in the offer as we ended up paying more than expected. The ambience is nice, with an Asian theme well captured, and the location is advantageous.

The service at this restaurant was extremely slow and the prices were high, with an €18 charge for a small portion of curry. There are much better options available that are more affordable and offer better service.

Absolutely terrible experience, from start to finish. Stale poppadoms. Rude staff. Poor service. Waited over half an hour for starters and when they came the onion bajis were dry and chicken tikka small. Hadn 't been served mains after an hour and when quiried, we were told just a few minutes then given the wrong order. Absolutely appalling. No effort was even made to let us know there were delays and they didn 't even check if we wanted drinks. In the end, we walked out without taking the mains because there was still no sign of them despite being in the restaurant and waiting as long as we had. When we said we were leaving and gave the reasons why, we didn 't even get an apology, in fact the man was even ruder. We will not be returning and will tell everyone to avoid this restaurant.

We have been customers of shimla for almost a decade now and they have always been consist in the quality of their food be sit down in their relaxed cosy atmosphere or efficient takeaway. Keep it up!

Got a takeaway for the family last Saturday. I ordered a lamb dish that was so tough a steak knife wouldn’t cut it. This went in the bin. The curries we ordered were only ok, not a patch on the quality we normally get from other takeaways. We were disappointed as it had been recommended to us.
