The Wooden House - Kilmore quay

Our experience at this seaside bed and breakfast was outstanding. The owner was extremely kind and welcoming, making us feel very comfortable. The room was large and roomy, with a balcony that provided a beautiful view of the sea. It was the perfect escape for a relaxing vacation. I highly recommend it!

Unfortunately, this restaurant is now closed and is being used to accommodate refugees. The service was very slow, our orders were mixed up, and there was a long wait for both drinks and food. The bill at the end of the night was incorrect and the food was only average. I do not plan on returning anytime soon. The restaurant needs to improve their service quality. It seems there is a shortage of hospitality staff, and the young employees are not properly trained which affects the overall experience.

I was a bit hesitant to stay at the Wooden House Hotel after reading online reviews, but after speaking with a kind woman on the phone, my concerns were put to rest. Despite previous complaints about safety and refugees, the families living on the hotel grounds were friendly and welcoming. While the hotel is not operating as traditional accommodation at the moment, our room was spacious, clean, and had a lovely balcony. Kilmore Quay itself is a beautiful village with plenty of dining options and stunning beaches. It felt like staying in a city apartment for the night, with our own private access. We will definitely be returning to the Wooden House Hotel for another stay. Thank you for providing us with a wonderful place to stay while we explored your charming village.

We spent 2 nights at this restaurant to catch the Saltee Island ferry. The location is very convenient as you can leave your car parked and walk to the ferry. The service was excellent, with a friendly lady showing us to our spotless room. The room had a beautiful view of the ocean, and the morning sunlight was just perfect! We will definitely return.

The atmosphere is decent, but the outdated decorations may not appeal to everyone. This restaurant does not have a bar or kitchen facilities. It is recommended to visit during the summer season.
