I had big expectations for this placeFirstly, it was on 'You Gotta Eat Here', which most of the time nails itUnfortunately this was a big miss.
It's a small place, conveniently located on Princess street downtown Kingston. They serve typical greasy delicious American sandwiches.
While the sandwiches were loaded up with good stuff, the bread was far too thin to accommodate it. Really, for what they charge, you would think that they would at least use a 'texas toast' sized bread so that it doesn't turn mushy. Either that, or perhaps the ones we got weren't grilled long enough? The poutine was okay, but they used a spiced cheese curd or maybe it was the gravy, which isn't for everyone. Four people, four combos, $55.00. Serving size of waffle fries was pretty stingy. Staff were very friendly and short wait time. Not a place we'll return to though.
Wherever we travel, we try to hit places featured on "You Gotta Eat Here" or Diner, Driveins and Dives... this was one of them.If you love grilled cheese (who doesn't), this place is for you. My son ordered the lasagna grilled cheese, my husband the breakfast, and me the chicken jalapeno... OMG, cheesy gooey heaven. I recommend the combo as it comes with curly seasoned fries. Let's just say it was a quiet table of oohs and ahs.The ONLY downfall was that none of the tables were cleaned and wiped. As a mom, a pet peeve. So I requested a wet cloth to wipe our table. It's an order and then sit place, so not technically a restaurant, but yummy just the same.Go for it! You Gotta Eat Here!
