I'm a huge fan of Southern-inspired breakfast dishes, as well as savory and unique breakfast options, and this place excels at both. The cornbread starter was incredible—light, flavorful, and just the right amount of cheesy on top. For my main course, I had the chicken and waffles; the boneless chicken was perfectly breaded, and the waffles were crisp, pairing excellently with the chicken. My wife ordered the miso pulled pork sandwich, and the pork was so tender it practically melted in her mouth. The miso flavor was distinctive and complemented the pork beautifully. I also love when restaurants add an egg on top of what would normally be a lunch dish. The service was prompt, relaxed, and unobtrusive. They even projected '90s movies on a wall for those who wanted to enjoy them, without it being distracting. The tap list was small but thoughtfully curated, featuring local beers. I really hope to return often, even though it’s a bit of a drive from Poughkeepsie—it's absolutely worth it!
We visited Pakt on our way back to NYC. The restaurant has a trendy atmosphere and a farm-to-table ethos. We began with the fried green tomatoes, which were hot and tasty. I ordered the seafood chowder, which was good, though not quite as soupy as I had expected. I especially enjoyed the homemade pickles, hash browns, and my husband’s burger. The service was adequate, but nothing to write home about. Prices were fairly typical for New York.
Now, about the food: it was absolutely delicious and bursting with flavor. We ordered several items, including the Biscuit and Gravy ($14), their Award-Winning Mac and Cheese ($10) — which was a perfect serving size for our five-year-old — a BLT Benedict ($16), the Jethro ($16), an Egg Skillet ($13) with crab cake and one with chicken, plus a scrumptious vegan option I chose: a tasty Vegan Chili featured on their specials menu. For drinks, I enjoyed a Lite Lager and a wonderfully flavorful Bloody Mary, complete with delicious pickled okra. Our food arrived in under 25 minutes, and overall, we had a fantastic experience at PAKT, thanks to Dan and his team! We will certainly return and highly recommend this restaurant to our friends in the nearby towns.
My wife and I spent our anniversary weekend in the Hudson Valley and wanted a unique brunch spot. I found this online and knew it would fit the bill perfectly. They don 't open until 10 on Sunday 's so we were there at 10:05. The restaurant is on a corner and we walked up and there was a table on the front stoop blocking entrance, making it appear as if it was to go ordering only. We stared at the menu board for a few minutes trying to decide if it was worth it but also wondered why their was a table of people eating inside. After a few minutes I noticed the side door. We cautiously walked in and asked if we were able to sit and the guy says Uhhhh, kind of, it depends. You have to ask that guy. Are you vaccinated? We said yes and a few minutes later were given a seat at the counter. Must have been a busy weekend for them because they were out of a number of items. My wife and I both got different types of chicken and biscuit sandwiches. They were both good, but both needed WAY more of the sauces they were supposed to have so they ended up being a bit bland. She got a side of the root veggie hash browns, but my sides of the peach habanero bacon and cheddar grits was the clear winner. The bacon was SUPER thick and I put one piece on my chicken sandwich. Grits were cooked perfectly and super thick almost like mashed potatoes. My wife really wanted to order her own side of them, but by the time we were served the place had filled up and the only server was busy with everyone else and didn 't come back until we were ready for the check. Would absolutely recommend this and hope to come back someday.
We came here on a Sat and knowing there may be a delay in service because of the holiday break. The waiter forewarned me when we sat down so I did appreciate that. We had the fried pickles appetizer to start for $7. I expected the pickles to be more thinly sliced and for it to not to have too much batter. Hence it was just alright. I had the catfish club breaded fried style which came with a choice of side of which I picked braised green. The sandwich was pretty delicious and I was afraid that it may have too much batter. The braised green was just alright as I had better. My son got the chicken and waffles with cheese grits. My wife got the shrimp grits both of which they felt the dish was just alright. Presentation of the food is nice but based off today's experience, I just give it a high 3 stars.
