As the sign says, "Good Food Takes Time" and it is worth the wait! Located near the river .. it is a beautiful little zone in the heart of orchard and vineyard country of East Coast Canada. With burgers the size of your face and a crab apple jam to die for .. I miss this spot and carry fond memories of it wherever I go.Thanks for all the great meals Dee!!
Home cooked, large portions, takes a while because orders are cooked from a scratch. Only a few tables so need to get there early.
We driven by often and always wanted to stop in. This place is the definition of a hole in the wall, but don't let that discourage you, this place is a little gem. Sure the carpet could be replaced and it could use a paint job but the food was great and the charm of the owner/cook/baker/server was endearing. She is also a wealth of information of the surrounding area. We ordered a burger and we were asked immediately if we had had one before, on answering no we were warned they were very large, she wasn't kidding! We figured it couldn't be that big based on the price, we couldn't have been more wrong! Homemade patty and bun, must have been at least a 16 oz patty if not larger. The soup of the day was navy bean with tomato and ham, almost like a stew, delicious and hot, served with a homemade biscuit. The bakery items were on display, not a huge selection, but my guess is it turns over daily, so there was enough of a selection of cookies, squares, bread and cinnamon buns (served grilled)! Strangely breakfast is served all day but the hours are 11-5. Every item is made to order so it takes time, go prepared to wait a little longer than you might expect. Apparently it's been open for 15 years (same owner/operator) so she's obviously doing something right. Well worth the stop.
Brace yourself for the overall appearance of this little cafe. You are literally in their home so pretend your Mom was asked to make five different things, that's how long it will take. This is a great cozy place with great homemade everything just don't go if you are going to feel rushed.
