Contribuisci feedbackWhile waiting for the Rod Stewart concert to finish in Hull (with my Mum and her friend), we were looking for a non-chain restaurant to dine at. We stumbled upon Paolo's and were impressed by its appearance. We had a pleasant chat with one of the owners, who is the son of the family. The food was delicious and generous in portions. Overall, it was a great experience and I would highly recommend it. The previous reviewer who criticized it for feeling "like going back in time" may prefer a different dining experience, such as Wetherspoons.
I almost overlooked this fantastic restaurant tucked away on a side street. The staff were very friendly, the service was top-notch, and the food was outstanding. A great option for all palates.
My brother and I stepped inside to warm up from the cold and grabbed a drink. After looking over the menu, we decided to dine at this restaurant, as I had been there once before a few years ago. We both decided to go with the set menu and were very pleased with our choice. For our starters, we enjoyed bruschetta and fish cakes, followed by a main course selection from 4 options. We both opted for the sautéed beef Stroganoff with vegetables and assorted new potatoes. To complement our meal, we ordered a bottle of Chianti. There were many options for dessert, but we both went with the classic choice of Sticky Toffee Pudding with ice cream which was absolutely delicious. The attentive restaurant staff served us coffee after our meal. Overall, we were completely satisfied and full.
On behalf of our large rowdy Xmas party I would like to thank all the staff for their fabulous service and attention to detail. From catering to specific dietary requirements to memorising individual’s varied drinks orders throughout the meal. The personal service was truly outstanding and all were more than impressed with the food but more so the atmosphere and staff. Highly recommend, especially for large parties. Special mention to Christian for top service from booking to settling the bill.
We hadn't booked but only had to wait 30 minutes for a table for 2. Drinks at the bar were ok. Got settled in by waitress(very pleasant)Starters were huge. I had fish gouging with sweet chili sauce and the Mrs had a deconstructed Prawn Cocktail. We were pretty full after that but then came my veal in a cream sauce, enough chips and veg for 2 people and the Mrs had chicken stoganoff. Plenty filling however the veal was a bit tough in places. No room for dessertWhen bill came they had included a service charge which wound me up so I asked them to remove it. I like to decide whether to tip or not. I did!!Very nice but just 20quid to expensive
