Despite being part of a large group and arriving last, I was told that my daughter's meal could not be rushed. I was simply hoping for her to eat with the rest of us, so I didn't mind waiting. Unfortunately, the cook insisted on preparing dishes in the order they were received, leading to a lengthy wait for even a simple salad. It was frustrating that minor adjustments couldn't be accommodated, given the busy period.
Heading north for our annual summer cottage season, I have made it a tradition over the past three years to have a meal at The Teck when I visit KL for golf or shopping. The menu offers a variety of appetizers and a good selection of "Pub Fare" and "Family Fare" items. On my first visit, I tried the featured menu item – a 10oz Rib Eye Steak for $19.95, which came with delicious garlic bread and fries. It was absolutely excellent, rivaling the best steaks I have had elsewhere. Last year, I enjoyed the liver and onions, which was tender and flavorful, with plenty of onions and good fries for $11.25. This year, I tried the daily special from the chalkboard menu – a Quarter pound Mediterranean tzatziki burger for $11.95, which came with fries or onion rings. It was a great taste sensation, with tasty meat and delicious onion rings. The atmosphere is a mix of old-fashioned "neighborhood family and pub," with a bar dining area and a larger main dining room that includes a pool table. The décor may not be recently renovated, but it is very comfortable. During all of my visits, the service has been friendly and attentive, with multiple offers for coffee refills on my initial visit. The coffee is just okay, so on subsequent visits, I opted for a beer instead. Some additional notes: The restaurant is family-friendly, with child seats available, though there is no specific menu for children. The TV screens are on the small side, with the Fed having bigger screens. For those interested, there is free encrypted WiFi available – just ask for the password. The restaurant is LLBO licensed, offering beer, wine, and spirits. The washroom facilities are okay. In conclusion, The Teck is a very good restaurant that I would highly recommend.
Always have burger and fries and never disappointed. Fries are homemade and a good variety of burgers.
We had an excellent lunch and would definitely go again. The homemade soup was worth the wait and we both enjoyed our meal and the friendly service.
