The place was clean and tidy, the food and drinks were OK, prices about average I guess. I was a bit disappointed by the reception though: there was no greeting or eye contact. We did not feel at all welcome.
Lovely beef teacake but the worst cup of tea I've ever been served in my life was weak and Milky like dishwasher , the food saved it will stick to orange juice next time
Had a really tasty sausage and egg sandwich, my only criticism is that it was huge and difficult to eat. Three sausages and an egg…it was jumbo! Brilliant value though and wish I’d had room for one of the delicious looking cakes
I have lived and worked all over the World and visited many, many coffee shops. Right up there among my favourites is the Merrie England in Kirkgate Huddersfield. The service and friendliness of all the staff is exemplary. The coffee is great (my wife loves the hot chocolate! and the food is always fresh and wholesome. Try it, you’ll love it!!
Called in the Packhorse shop after breaking my journey on my way home from work. Pleasant, friendly staff. As I’d not had one of the renowned Hot Beef and Onion sandwiches for a few years it was a must and coffee . I had just a short wait for my sandwich which was piping hot and tasty just I remembered them to be just what was needed after a busy day at work... if I have a grouch that would be the price for a sandwich, I understand overheads etc but I’m sure the price could be reviewed and brought down considering other eateries around offer meals for not much more !! Please don’t out price yourselves Merrie England is part of Huddersfield.
