Let's just say, my picky, eat like a bird 13 years old, the fish ate hating my two pieces. pommes were but good! serious, it is fresh, tasty and cheap with good portions. owners are super friendly and the place is clean and well maintained for....if they were a fan of rockway, they will like this place.
We went there Saturday night for dinner. The chips were very good but not so much for the fish. It was just OK. We both ordered halibut. I had one piece and my boyfriend had 2. They were all pre-cut pieces of halibut in little...squares. Then battered and cooked. It was ok but nothing to brag about. I don't see what all the fuss is about this place. I have never, ever had such a small piece of fish at any restaurant. It might have been a square piece about 3 x3 maybe even 4 x4 . And a tiny little paper cut of cole slaw. The restaurant and NO air conditioning at least none that was working. It was so hot on Saturday and we hoped to get some relief inside. NOT SO. It looks a bit dingy and is kind of off the beaten path. I would not go there again.
We had a selection of different Fish dinners for our end of season party. The Halibut Fish and chips was reasonably priced and the Halibut was tasty. The batter wasn't too thick and doughy. However the fries were just ok. I have had better elsewhere.
The restaurant is dated but take out is also an option. We had the Cod and Fish and it rivaled any of the Cod and Chips that we recently had in London, UK. We did note how busy it was for take outs while we...were there... obviously a local favorite. We will be back to repeat order but also try some of the other items on the menu.
