Had a beautiful experience! Sunny the owner moved to Costa Rica 7 years ago and his dream to open a restaurant finally came true not so long ago. He serves AMAZING real Indian food, with original recipes of his home. Most of the dishes are vegan or can be vegan!
Made to order delicious food. Owner went above and beyond. Multiple vegan options and accommodating to make other things vegan, if possible. Would eat here again!
Let me start with something that may be less than obvious: Sunny, the owner of this restaurant, is clear VERY diligent about reading (and respond to reviews here and elsewhere. In other words, he listens, he reacts, he is aware that there are vegans in the world. Points to Sunny for his efforts! Sunny's menu has a limited number of vegan options, but what I tried was all very good. I could eat the Masala Peanuts every day! Wow! I am absolutely looking forward to coming back here and trying the things I didn't get for the first time. Oh, and special note has to be made (the drinks again from the fresh lime tea I had here. It was so good, super fresh and the perfect compliment for Indian cuisine. And if you make it to Sunny's, make sure to go a little further on the road to Mount Arenal, and visit Angelina Garden. It is a free flower garden and so much more! This is designed to protect and promote local pollinators. It is one of the most beautiful places in the area, and it is free. (Although you should feel free to leave a donation when you visit. If you are a nature lover or vegan, Angelina Garden will talk to your soul and let you cry with joy. Seriously. I say that as someone who cried there with joy.
This place is quite basic, but the smiling owner whistles something very delicious Indian food. We were happy to see that there were some vegan ducks and pages on the menu. The food was all delicious, the spicy perfect, and it wasn't fat. However, the Roti had ghee/oil on it, so make sure that you eat it without when you eat oil free.
