On our way to BGC, we can’t decide where to eat so I opened my Zomato app and searched restaurants in Shangri-La the fort and One Bonifacio HS. I wanted to drink some wine and opted for filipino dish. Luckily, I saw Planet Grapes with 2+2 on drinks. Zomato quickly reserved us a table with no hassle at all. Entering the restaurant, the Host greeted us and offered the reserved table but I requested for another vacant table. Our server gave the menu and he was very knowledgeable suggesting which wine was good for the food we ordered. All our food was delicious and served on time. Some of our personal favorites were the Tenderloin Salpicao skewers and grilled Pork Chops. Definitely, we will come back again. It was a night to remember.
Staff really accommodated us even late into the night and were polite with everything. I came here desperately wanting food (after being turned away by three other restaurants that say they’re open till 12! . Thankfully Planet Grapes still opened their doors for us and did not make us feel like a nuisance even though we’re the only one left dining.
We had our family dinner there to celebrate the Chinese New Year. We saw the menu here at Zomato and got interested. We have some teenaged nieces and nephews with us so my sister had to go call and make sure they’re allowed to dine in since we had this impression that Planet Grapes (from the name) is more of a bar than a restaurant. We didn’t regret our decision to try and dine here. Though a bit pricey, food was awesome. Everything we ordered were very satisfying. Budget I guess would be P800-P1000 per head. We loved their Potato Chips, Fish and Chips, Sausage Platter, Mexican Corn and Onion Rings Highly Recommended: Their Sisig was P245 per serving and it was quite a small servings but taste was really good. We had to order 3 servings for us to be satisfied. Tenderloin Salpicao was served in skewers, 2 skewers per serving at P390 per serving. This one’s so tender and tasty. So so good! Grilled Porchop was served with the bones and it was so juicy and tender. A bit pale but taste was very very good. Each serving costs P390. Would love to go back here.
Baboy, Bagoong, Singkamas, at Mangga or “BBSM” for short is one of the best classic Filipino street food with a blend of sweet and sour that can easily whet your appetite. The combination is skillful and I imagine the dish tasting even better with smaller shrimps for a more concentrated flavor. Planet Grapes Street Food Platter deserves more attention. It’s composed of Chorizo de Cebu, Vigan longganisa, garlic bangus longganisa, squid balls, kwek-kwek, and chicken skin. Everything is good on its own. This is the best entree to share with a bunch of friends. You go from zero to feeling-more-like-a-real-person in just a few bites. Planet Grapes Sisig is always a good choice. It can stand as an appetizer or a hearty meal served with extra rice. PG Sisig is crispy pork mask served sizzling with a fresh organic egg and a refreshing tomato salsa. Tastes and textures are spot on. There’s a great hit of salt and crunch from the pork parts. The mains aren’t too groundbreaking, but it’s impossible to fault well-cooked dishes. Beautifully prepared, all these entrees have harmonious tastes that fascinate the palate. At Planet Grapes, you’d want to end your meal with a bang. I’ll say YES to any of these yummy desserts any day: Planet Grapes Leche Flan (PhP 150) – silky and dense leche flan made from carabao’s mil and Turon Trilogy (PhP 165) – filo pastry wrapped sweet plantains and ube halaya resting on a bed of preserved jackfruit coulis. The difficult part is when you’re pressured to choose only one of the desserts here. When that happens, I recommend to go with the Sapin-sapin with Salted Egg Sauce. It’s unique, somewhat addictive, and has a very appealing quality to it. Their version of sapin-sapin is unorthodox and unabashedly bold. It works together ingeniously with the salted egg sauce, truly one of a kind.
