Barnacle Barney's - Ladysmith

We had a great time having the 1 piece halibut chips meal. The food was delicious and the fish was perfectly crispy. Although there was a slight delay, our server apologized for the wait.

First, the good. The take out prices are a lot less than the other Chinese take outs in town. The assortment and quality of the chop suey vegetables was excellent in large containers. No MSG after effects. The won ton soup is good. However, it is too bad that the chop suey flavor is beyond bland, like steamed vegetables in a chicken broth. The fried rice was a big disappointment, like Delta rice with a few frozen peas, diced carrot and slivers of pork. Didn't even taste like the rice was fried.

I ordered a 2 piece Halibut meal, I got it delivered as delivery was free over $25, another awesome feature. It came in the time they said and it was delicious!! The fries were so yummy, not greasy and the halibut was firm in texture and had a delicious crispy coating. I have to say I really didn’t expect much having it delivered, I expected it to be a bit soggy, but no way, it was superb. I still have 1/2 for tonight there was such a healthy serving, definitely enough for two. I hear great things about their Chinese food so that will be my next try. Thank you so much for your dedication to good food and timely delivery !!! PS the restaurant itself is beautiful, but they only have take out at present

I ordered the beef dip and it was the most disappointing meal I've ever had. It seemed like no effort was put into preparing the food, but at least the server was friendly.

My wife and I strolled up from the municipal park while waiting for the Ferry back to the mainland and happened upon this small restaurant. This place was fabulous. Sparkling clean restrooms, a delightful waitress, amazing decor and the food was even better than any of the aforementioned. Absolutely an awesome establishment.
