It looked classy and like a wonderful afternoon lunch. What we experienced was a cold patio with a fireplace (that didn't heat very far) in lawn chairs at a small table... when we tried to order a couple items on the menu.. they weren't available.. then we ordered a salad and a pizza. The salad reminded us of Subway's lettuce/tomato/onion just bundled together with very minimal balsamic dressing... and the three cheese pizza... wasn't very good either. It had to be from a box... it both looked and tasted like it. We felt very deceived...and we will not be going back. I'd prefer going to Rhubarb over this 100% - where I will get real food. ONE more thing... the washrooms didn't have the baseboard heating on. They were set to zero. So when I went to the washroom... it was absolutely FREEZING and uncomfortable. Ahh! Not sure what other people are smokin' in these reviews... unless for some reason that day was an Off Day?!
Our family stopped at the Bistro after a trip to the tower in Dorset and were the only customers for dinner on this late October evening. The owner was a lovely lady who cooked our meal, waited on us and couldn't have been friendlier or more welcoming. Our son was visiting from out of province and is an executive chef and not an easy customer to please....but everything exceeded his and our expectations! All 4 of us enjoyed our meals immensely and dessert was divine...everything homemade, and delicious. I won't hesitate to stop again next year on our annual pilgrimage to the tower...
Our family of 3 stopped by the Tower Bistro while visiting the tower in Dorset. We got a nice spot in the shade on the patio, and it was nice, quiet, and relaxing. We tried the borscht and the three cheese pizza, which were divine. Best of all were the crepes, with cooked banana, almond syrup, and ice cream. We couldn't get enough! Definitely recommend getting the crepes for dessert. Our waitress, who is also the owner of the Inn, was a very kind lady who afterwards also brought us brochures depicting activities in the area, and explained to us the best attractions and times of year to come. Overall it was a great experience and we will definitely be coming again!
A Russian woman was our host, waitress, cook and entertainer. On a rainy day at our cottage in Haliburton we decided to take a short drive, We headed North on Hwy 35 to Dorset, arriving at 12:30 and hungry fro lunch we searched TripAdvisor and discovered the Tower Bistro. The setting was easily found, the owners were wonderfully inviting, the Bistro was beautiful. All second to the food itself. I fully recommend this restaurant to all and worth the drive, trust me!
We stopped in here recently for lunch. Very quiet location, and quiet inside, with a nice fire going in the lounge. Nice country atmosphere, and a very pleasant host/owner who also happens to be a very good cook, and is a nutritionist by profession. The menu is not extensive but with enough variety, and with some interesting options.I had a burger, and it was home made and very good, as was the chicken noodle soup. (also home made from scratch). My wife had a monte cristo sandwich. The desserts were very tasty with health in mind, so not huge or piled with sugar & fat, but rather a nice sweet touch without being over-the-top. (I had a spiced square with zucchini, blueberries and nuts in it - all desserts also home made). It's worth stopping and trying for yourselves.
