El Cantaro - Lambayeque

Stopped here for lunch while visiting local huaca and was very impressed by the tasty local Lambayeque dishes served in an unpretentious, friendly setting at affordable prices. A famous Peruvian TV chef and a top restaurateur from Lima also happened to be there, enjoying the...duck rice and the chirimpico, a local stew of goat offal with spices and corn no doubt an acquired taste. Perhaps El Cantaro is about to get national coverage?

We ordered mixed ceviche and tuna causa. Ceviche was nothing special, Peruans usually make the best ceviches I tried. Causa was with tuna from a can, not a fresh or grilled. But the service was excellent.

I try, seco de cabrito and causa norteña, wow so good. Service is nice, and is near from chiclayo, taxi just cost 12 soles.

We were seated and served quickly. The mixed cerviche was good, as was the stuffed avocado my wife enjoyed. Her entrée of rice and pasta (duck) was tasty and authentic. I had the stewed goat, which was somewhat fatty, but with good flavor. Enjoyable dining...was had.

Este restaurante tiene comida deliciosa y sirven de manera generosa, tiene comida tradicional chiclayana, la sazón es fabulosa, tiene variedad de platos como frijoles con seco, tacu tacu, ceviche de conchas negras, queda uno bastante satisfecho, la atención es buena en calidez, solo que se demoran un poco en traer los platos por lo demás quedé conforme.
