Now is porters public house. a great alternative brewhouse for south whidbey with local, nw brewing and somewhat better than average pub food.
Oh-my-goodness YUM! There's not even one dish that isn't just delicious! Mussels? Check! Steak? Why yes! Check! Tender pasta with eggplant? Of course! Pacific Black Cod? Oh...yeah! Check again! Things to keep in mind: Make reservations early. They only have so many tables and fill up fast any time of the year. I might suggest you plan 2 weeks in advance just to be safe. They're only open a limited number of days per week. Plan accordingly! R2 is not a typical inexpensive in-and-out place, it's casual (like everything on the island Be prepared for island time You might want to visit R2 on a day when you don't have to rush off.
The restaurant was excellent when it was open. Roaming Radish, R2, has now transitioned to focusing solely on catering. However, its new location is at the recently opened Porter's Public House. I am excited to give it a try as well.
The food and drink was delicious. The service was pretty terrible. The waitresses spent more time socializing behind the bar then actually serving us. They forgot many items and then felt entitled enough to confront the table about not getting their desired tip. I wish I'd say I'd go back because the food was great but the service really turned me off.
