Sweet Somethings Bakery - Laurel

I made a quick stop in Laurel, Mississippi, and stumbled upon this charming little bakery and ice cream shop. You absolutely have to go in and try some ice cream along with a cookie. And don't forget to get the cinnamon roll—it might just be the best cinnamon roll on the planet!

The sticky buns and cinnamon rolls are fantastic! Fresh cookies, scrumptious pies, just an all-around taste treat.

I ordered rainbow cupcakes and was assured that everything would be fine. We even paid an additional $15 for rainbow icing. However, what I received were mostly blue and purple cupcakes, with just a hint of green and white mixed in. Some cupcakes hardly had any icing at all. Additionally, we ordered pink and green cookies shaped like the number 1, but they were a complete mess and barely resembled the number. We had to cut several of them just to make them look somewhat like a 1. Honestly, they tasted no different than store-bought cookies. To make matters worse, they initially offered a $15 refund for the rainbow icing, but after some back and forth, they ultimately issued a larger refund. They did offer to redo the icing, but since the order was already late, we didn't have time to wait for a replacement. I'm very disappointed.

The only reason I didn't give them a full five stars is that the two girls working there couldn't tell us what some of the items were or what ingredients they contained. It seems that someone else makes the products and leaves them in the display cases, while the staff that runs the shop doesn't have detailed knowledge about them. There were no labels to identify the items, so we had to guess about what we were buying. That said, everything we purchased was very good, even if we were a bit unsure of the ingredients in some of the cookie items until we tried them.

It's a beautiful little bakery. Friendly staff. And as great as everything looked and the size of everything I thought it was going to be expensive but it's not at all! We got this giant cookie sandwich for $2.50 and it was so so good.
