Taqueria Julia - Laurel

A few of us decided to have lunch at Julia's Bakery, where they serve genuine Mexican cuisine. I ordered three Tacos Carnitas—slow-cooked pork—served on a soft corn tortilla, along with a side of rice and beans and a sweet tea. Just take a look at the picture of the tacos; it truly makes my mouth water! The service was friendly and quick, and our food arrived hot and flavorful. I also appreciate that they offer salsa in three or four different heat levels, from mild to quite spicy. The prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend this place!

I used to visit this restaurant pretty frequently a few years ago when I was a student at JCJC, but I moved to Louisiana three years ago. Since then, I’ve tried many new Mexican restaurants in my area, but none have matched the quality of this place. While visiting family today, I knew I had to stop by on my way home for a few steak tacos, and they were even better than I remembered. I’ve never had a bad meal here, and I’ve yet to find another restaurant that makes tacos quite like this one. Everything is consistently delicious, and the customer service is always outstanding! I don’t come home often, but whenever I do, I make it a point to include this stop in my plans.

We decided to stop here for lunch based on the fantastic reviews, and it did not disappoint! The food was excellent, and we each ordered three tacos. While three was a bit much for me, two would have been just right. The staff, including our server, was outstanding; they checked on us several times throughout our meal. I definitely recommend this place!

The best tacos in the state. The Carnitas are absolutely delicious!! Great food. Great staff. Feels like I'm actually eating grandmothers.
