The second I cracked it open it looked bad.I decided to give it a shot and put it in my mouth and I had to immediately spit it out because it had spoiled. They took it off my bill for me with no issues so that was good. The pot stickers were delicious.
I have eaten at the other Cajun seafood place in town which we love, and a family member asked me to meet them here and try this place. I thought what the heck. First observation coming in was that the lawn out front was dead and the entrance not well defined or welcoming, real bad first impression. Upon entering on a Thursday evening at 6:30p there were about 4 other tables with folks at them in quite a large dining place. I start getting a little uncomfortable. Our waiter a young man was trying hard and seemed to care, he did a nice job for us. There was a single music speaker/system directly above our head playing teenie bopper pop music. We asked to have it turned down or off as it was obvious they were trying to broadcast music from this one speaker across quite a large dining area. Seems like playing a certain genre of music not related to the theme of your establishment is risky and immediately excludes some people right out of the gate. Any way the music was changed to something with a more neutral/oriental feel for a while and then the same stuff came back. It wasn’t a huge deal, just not our preference. We had the calamari which I would say rivals the best I’ve had and the sauces were good too, kind of where it ended for me. I got the #21 combo. It wasn’t horrible. The flavor just wasn’t there. I just didn’t love it. There were a couple flies buzzing around and a small fruit like fly that kept getting into my food and getting stuck. Had the clams and shrimp heads off, didn’t realize until I was done that I didn’t get sausage as I should have. Waiter felt bad and said he would help in some way but at that point I was full and it was an honest mistake anyway. We asked for raspberry cheese cake which the waiter had recommended for dessert but the waiter came back and told us it was frozen and not ready to eat. At this point we threw in the towel and kind of gave up. I would not go here again. This may be a place that works for some and the experience was not horrible by any means. Just not enough to draw me back a second time.
I ordered grub hub delivery, came very promptly, Butt!! Ordered fried oysters, rec raw on half shell. 90 mins later still hasn’t brought correct order. No utensils, corn shriveled, I knocked over gumbo, it wasn’t good. I was mad about mess but not cause it was a loss. Hopefully I get full credit from Grubhub because I gave up and ordered elsewhere.Kid-friendliness: They apparently aren’t real concerned about making order right.
At first glance this place is kind of run down and doesnt really have a resturant feel but more of a run down bar kind of feel.we were greeted warmly by the waiter. they have what seemed like dollar store plastic table covers and ware. the fish nets and writing all over the walls didnt really help either. i know they were probably trying to make it oceany, but it detracted more than helped in my opinion.we ordered the cajun rice, cajun fries, tonkatsu ramen, fried calamari, seafood special, the mango boba, and fried icecream .the cajun fries were ok, the fries them self werent very good, and it seemed like there was just a bunch of cayenne pepper dumped on them.the seafood special was cool in that you could create a personal touch. but the crab legs were not very good and the potatoes and corn that came with it were not cooked very well, the corn was over done and the potatoes were under done.i really liked the fried calamari and the dipping sauces they had for it, i think they accidentally mixed in some fried vegetables as well but those were pretty good as well.cajun rice was decent but kind of a meh flavor by them self, similar feeling with the tonkatsu ramen, but i found it nice to take a scoop of rice and dunk it in the tonkatsu broth. that made a very nice flavor that i enjoyed a lot.we ordered the mango boba....the mango flavor was nice...but the boba was hard and not prepared correctly.i was very disappointed with the fried icecream largely in part because it was jot icecream, it was some kind of weirdly fruity white sorbet, not icecream at all. it was ok but i probably wouldn 't buy it a second time.overall i think this place is decent to try, and i might come to get more calamari to go, but i likely would not come to sit down often. it gives off the feeling of a dying not cared for restaurant.
This places food and service is just what the exterior looks like. Needs a lot of work. Food is severely overpriced for the quality and the service is very poor. It’s a family busy you can tell so you want it to succeed but it needs a lot of work. I wouldn’t recommend.Food: 2/5
