After reading some outdated reviews, we were excited to try this renowned meat-focused restaurant. We dressed up for a chic evening and were impressed by the beautiful rustic atmosphere. However, we were disappointed by the service we received. There was only one vegetarian option on the menu, and when I mentioned this to our waiter, he was unhelpful and passive aggressive. Instead of offering to speak to a cook or manager to find a solution, he simply suggested salad and pasta. My husband and I decided to leave due to the lack of options and the server's attitude. When we mentioned this to him, he continued to be passive aggressive. I called the manager later to complain, and while he apologized, I was disappointed by the lack of hospitality we experienced. I hope to never have this type of experience again at a restaurant.
A classic plantation in Kauai is Kilohana, known for its rustic beauty. The restaurant on the plantation was previously called [censored], but recently changed to 22 Norths. They take pride in serving agricultural food and local vegetables, with a menu that changes weekly. 22 North is known for being accommodating to vegetarian and vegan diners. I enjoyed the criminally roasted Macadamia nuts, the estate salad, a tomato filled with crispy kale and zucchini, and finished with cocosnose. The restaurant has a beautiful Hawaiian atmosphere, located above the plantation. For more details, you can check out my blog [link].
My husband, who recently transitioned to a vegetarian diet, and I, a vegan, were excited to try out this highly praised restaurant during our honeymoon in Poipu, Kauai. Despite the charming rustic atmosphere, we were disappointed by the lack of vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. When we expressed our concerns to the waiter, he was unhelpful and dismissive, offering only salads and pasta as alternatives. We decided to leave due to the limited options and the server's attitude. The manager apologized when we called to complain, but we were disappointed by the overall lack of hospitality and problem-solving skills displayed by the staff. We hope to never have a similar experience again at a restaurant.

I had criminal roasted Macadamia nuts, the estate salad (garden salad), a couscous filled tomato with crispy kale and zucchini, and finished it all with kokossorbet. the restaurant is located above the plantation with a beautiful Hawaiian atmosphere. for a complete overview you can find my blog here: http veganmiss.blogspot.com/2011/09/vegan-kauai-hawaii-part-two.html
[censored] is a fish and meat restaurant, and they are proud of it. I ordered the only 2 (except for a modified salat) vegan options - the spring rolls and the coconut curry vegetables. the spring rolls were deep fried, heavy and tasting of oil. the cocosnusskur was heavy and the green beans were undercooked.
