Contribuisci feedbackI stopped by today for some delicious tea and cake as a way of saying thank you to the kind young man and his mom who helped me out with a seat and water yesterday. I was feeling a bit under the weather due to a steep hill and post-Covid symptoms. Their genuine common sense and kindness really made a difference. To the staff who weren't there today, please accept my sincere thanks and know that I would recommend this place for its fantastic cakes and teas!
I visited this restaurant today while visiting my son. The setting was really interesting and I enjoyed a great cappuccino. I will definitely visit again.
Located halfway up Steep Hill, this restaurant has a unique entrance with a couple of steep steps leading down into it. Once inside, the space opens up with plenty of room between tables. The restaurant appears to be built into the street, featuring an arched roof that gives the impression of being in a cave. While the sandwich selection may be limited, the cakes are delicious and the teas and coffees are of high quality. They even offer a variety of Rooibos teas for those avoiding caffeine. The charming atmosphere is enhanced by the presence of second-hand books for sale, providing a pleasant browsing experience. Overall, a lovely place to enjoy a meal or a hot beverage.
Called here on the way down Steep Hill after spending the day in the castle and cathedral, but, it is definitely worth going just to go to this cafe/book shop. Really nice tea and the cakes were fantastic. Also a large collection of books for sale.
Lovely welcoming cafe. Stopped for a cuppa and cake and a rest after walking up, but definitely worth it. Attentive and friendly staff. Beautiful coffee.
