The atmosphere is minimalist, with simple décor that gives off a cozy, homey feel. While it may not be the ideal spot for a romantic date, it is a nice place to stop by for a delicious Thai meal. The location is a bit secluded from busy streets, so it's usually quiet. The staff are welcoming and recognize their regular customers, which adds a personal touch to the dining experience. Overall, it feels like a small family-owned business run by a couple who are passionate about their work.
If you are seeking an authentic Thai dining experience, you may be disappointed by this restaurant. While the food is tasty, the atmosphere and decor did not impress me. The concrete floor and old, dirty fabric chairs were not attractive. The older waitress was pleasant and provided helpful suggestions for the food. The prices were very reasonable. However, I was unaware that the restaurant is BYO only and there is no nearby bottle shop, which was disappointing.
Have eaten here a couple of times. Each time the food was reasonable but not great. The service was fine but the place was empty. It was lacking any enthusiasm. While there wasn't anything particularly wrong there was also nothing to entice a return visit. Seems to have very few diners and I am not sure how they survive.
The food was mediocre and to make matters worse, while we were dining a German cockroach also made an appearance at our table. We informed the owner, who nonchalantly shrugged and showed no concern.
PJ's offers the best Thai food in Lismore, authentic meals and curries made to taste if you don't like them too hot. Meals are generous portions and they do great lunch specials. The owner makes sure the meals are just right or the chef does them again.
