Siamese - Long Beach

**Service**: 3 stars for sushi/sashimi only, aka, rotten, stinky fish. Take a look at my pictures and comments if you prefer to skip this lengthy review. --- I had a sushi/sashimi lunch at AKI nearly two hours ago, and I can still taste the lingering stench of rotten fish. Honestly, I didn't think any sushi could be worse than the awful stuff at JOE, but AKI has set a new low. **Sashimi Lunch: $17.95** - **Tuna**: Dry and tasteless. It was a shame because the color was a beautiful ruby red, but the texture was lacking. - **Halibut**: Clearly pre-cut and frozen. Just as dry as the tuna and tasted like cardboard. - **Salmon**: Thinly sliced, which was a minor relief, but it was nothing to write home about. Eating AKI's salmon felt like tasting a wet wipe. While it was moist, the flavor was nonexistent. **Overall:** The worst fish experience ever! The fish had these unsightly veins running along the edges that looked like hangnails. The smell was so bad that I actually had to send it back. They were kind enough to replace it, but the second attempt was still disappointing, although the smell was slightly better. **Other Issues:** 1. **Incorrect (Higher) Prices**: The bill showed my additional sushi pieces priced about 15% higher than listed on the menu. When I inquired about this, the server explained that the menu was only for choosing sushi and didn't reflect current prices. Why not print out updated menus? (I just paid to get away from there). 2. **Worst Nori Ever**: I can't stress this enough. The nori was as wet as a soggy newspaper from the rain. I'm used to crispy, fresh nori, but you won't find that here. 3. **Good Service**: While the food was absolutely terrible, the service was quick and attentive. 4. **Pleasant Environment**: The restaurant is large and clean. The outside may look a bit shabby, with limited parking, but the interior is quite nice. The sushi bar is spacious, probably seating about 20 people. In summary, the food experience was an absolute letdown!
