Nasty service, nasty food!! I have been to this restaurant a few times, I would say it’s been maybe 6 months since my last visit but def been here more than 5 times but this last time was the absolute worst! We have always been treated good here, I ordered a steak quesadilla and I found A HAIR in my food a big long black one. We told our waitress she calls the manager. This lady did not even apologize she was like how can I help you like I was bothering her, I told her what was wrong and she was like ok and asked me if I wanted something else this was where I went wrong but since everybody at my table was now eating and I was hungry I asked for a different plate since my stomach was already turning from the hair I found! At the end she charged for my meal she didn’t comp it and I asked her why she would charge me for my meal and she said with an attitude I comped you for the one you didn’t eat, I barely ate the new plate since I had lost my appetite at that point. I told her I would put a review since she was nasty and charging me for my food when I literally found a hair and she said she did not care! I would think if this were my restaurant that I would charge someone for a meal if they found a hair! Sorry I didn’t take a pic but I was disgusted and I forgot! Suffice to say we will Never go back and if you go here make sure you look before you eat!!!!
The food is exactly what it says. Urban Mexican food, however it’s good. One of my favorite “Mexican” restaurants. You can still get good tostones and street corn. As well the tacos are decent. The Mexican wings are pretty good, the queso is one of my faves as well! Drinks are always good as well. Good location as well. Parking: Parking garage is one block away
Out of the many times I’ve eaten here, a few have truly been 5 stars. The last 4 or 5 times has been less than stellar. I always order the Cauliflower bowl- a few years ago they used to season and bake the cauliflower, albeit it most often under or overcooked. It was also too oily most of the time, so because of their overall inconsistency I began ordering without it. I did choose to give it another try twice, but they changed the method of cooking to boiling/steaming, leaving it unseasoned, mushy, wet, and gross. Why? When I mentioned this to the waiter yesterday, he said he would “let them know.” That was it. He was very nice and I felt really great and relaxed from having just had a massage, so I didn’t emphasize my dissatisfaction any further. I’ve included a photo of my leftovers that I just finished for breakfast today. There was an additional large chunk of cauliflower, but because these took up so much space in the bowl (leaving less room for more rice, beans, etc) I was still hungry and ate it with copious amounts of guac and pico. I did have the falafel bowl once and while it had a great flavor, it was overcooked. I could only eat some of the inside bits. I should have spoken up but did not. I’ve also tried the kale salad which says it comes with baby kale, but came with regular kale (I hate regular kale and it’s really hard to chew). When I told the waiter, he said he would comp (didn’t actually hear what he said but I assumed the salad) and I wasn’t expecting that, so I was very grateful! When I got the check, I realized he had “comped” the avocado, which actually does come on the salad but because they had forgotten it, I told the server and he brought me some. I should have spoken up when I noticed but I felt confused and awkward. Overall, just really disappointed. I don’t know when I will try again- but I do know I will speak up if necessary.
This place was great and I think the food has improved over the years. The costilla de res quesadilla was amazing, so cheesy and comes with a great sauce. The fish tacos were just okay, I’ve had better at other restaurants. The yucca fries were great and came with a delicious chimmi churri sauce. The service was not so great, but our waiter was friendly. He was just a little slow when it came to getting things and we had to ask for napkins halfway through our meal since we were never given any. Overall it was a great visit and we will most likely come back.
