Glenn, the owner, was friendly and accommodating. While they don't have their own parking area, there is a convenient parking lot just steps away from the inn. All the rooms are located on the second or third floor, and while there isn't an elevator, the stairs are manageable. Self check-in is a breeze; they send you a text with the room code and Wi-Fi password. The room was impeccably clean, of a good size, and equipped with everything we needed. The king-sized bed was very comfortable, complete with a lovely quilt, soft sheets, and plenty of pillows, though I found the mattress slightly firmer than my preference. Nevertheless, we slept well. There's no air conditioning in the room, but with the window open and the ceiling fan running, we enjoyed the refreshing sea air. The room has a mini fridge and a kettle for hot water, along with mugs and instant coffee, tea bags, and sugar. The flatscreen smart TV had local cable, but we struggled to get it to work, so we ended up streaming movies instead. The bathroom was quite small, and the shower stall felt cramped, but the water pressure and temperature were excellent, with plenty of soft towels, toiletries, and a hairdryer provided. This is a no-frills room, but it was comfortable, clean, and reasonably priced. There’s a pub on the first floor that is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, which is unusual. The food was good; you order at the bar, and your meal is brought to your table. The menu is limited and frequently changes, but service was attentive, and the views from the pub were fantastic. We would definitely stay here again. As for Lubec, it's a small town with not much to see or do. There are three restaurants, a brewery/pub, one gift shop, a coffee shop, and a pizza takeout place—that’s about it. There’s an IGA grocery store and a dollar store nearby for essentials. If you’re interested, there are whale watching charters and a 30-minute ferry service to Eastport, which has much more to offer (it takes about 40 minutes to drive there). If you enjoy hiking or biking, there are numerous trails to explore. As locals from Maine, we knew what to expect. Lubec is a quaint coastal town, and while we enjoyed our stay at Cohills Inn, one visit to Lubec is likely enough for us.
**Rooms:** Immaculately clean **Food and Drinks:** Excellent variety of food and drinks **Overall rating:** - Rooms: 5/5 - Service: 5/5 - Location: 5/5 **Hotel highlights:** Peaceful atmosphere
The smoked fish appetizer was peculiar; it came with far too few crackers, just one fork (which was puzzling since it was meant for two people), and no napkins, forcing us to fetch our own. The burgers were quite good, but once again, we had to request napkins, silverware, and ketchup. Nobody came around to refill our water or check if we wanted another round of drinks. The staff is friendly and clearly doing their best, but they are under-resourced and struggling to keep up. Given that there are limited dining options in Lubec, this is likely the best choice available, so if you do visit, expect to end up here. My advice is to be patient and adaptable. And whatever you do, steer clear of the lounge!
This was our third stay in the pretty town of Lubec. In a beautiful region with stunning coastal scenery, and Campobello Island just across the water, this is a fantastic place to visit for all ages. We've dined at the end several times and have always enjoyed the food service and location. I had the Greek platter this time and it was very good. Good beer on tap and friendly smiles from the staff, what more can you ask? Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Great view, Quiet
We arrived with a group of seven for dinner, but were told that they couldn't accommodate us unless we split up into pairs at the available tables. Even though there were five tables for two around the restaurant, they refused to allow us to push them together so we could sit as a group. As a result, we decided to take our business elsewhere.
