Friendly staff, delicious food and cocktails, but sometimes too warm room temperature. Nevertheless, I can recommend Mauritius with a good conscience!

It used to be a very good location in the past What you may now know as schwarz-weiss bar (black-white bar) in Ludwigsburg I still know as Tatort (crime scene) which was opened at the beginning of the It was available until The...founder always was suited fine and smoked a cigar. He was always friendly and open to share a few nice words with guests who knew how to behave properly. I was quite surprised and disappointed too as I once again went there realizing the location was shut down and short time later reopened being renamed to schwarz-weiss bar with a completely new team and owner. The location itself is very nice though. It's a comfortable vaulted cellar with warm muted light. The initial founder preferred to play jazz musik in the background so guests still had a chance to have a good conversation. It nearly was always full and without reservation not easy to even get a single seat no matter at which time of any day. The service back then always had been friendly and quick. Prices were very acceptable and the quality of all drinks, with focus on cocktails was very high. The initial founder wasn't out for cheap drinks at maximum win including an every-day happy hour as many locations these days offer on almost every corner. I am speaking about good quality drinks, very well mixed using original ingridients. The bartenders were very capable of doing a great mixing and entertaining for the guests btw. The taste of all cocktails were always to my highest satisfaction. Taste was primarily to keep the guests satisfied. Ice and water were only used if needed by the receipe and not to fill up the glass and make more money. I can almost asure you, never before you may have been at a bar which offered an amazing selection out of not less than different cocktails! Some were self created or even competition winners. I also liked their eggnog variations. It was almost impossible for anyone not to find their preferred cocktail among them which refreshed beloved but aged holiday or love moments. I always had a very comfortable time there. Unfortunately times has changed now and most of this is past. I think due to the change of the clientele (much more joung people) out for their after-work happy hour intoxication and more and more disrespectful, improper behaviour. Due to this I believe the fun factor for the founder dropped within time. Hence he handed over to someone else and put focus on other things in life. Now, the prices has risen noticeably while the drinks quality, service and comfort dropped. Also the broad selection shrunk to and water with crushed ice seems to be the major topping on all cocktails. It's no place for me anymore as I know where to find such quality in different places for less. So if anyone here rates this location above average he simply do not know what he has missed the years before. I cannot recommend it anymore just for the drinks. And if I were out for cocktails I would prefer a location which also serve meals.

Wanted to try something new and found this hidden gem. It reminded me of the old basement bars; exposed brick, smokey at times, smooth music and fantastic drinks. The crowd is a mix of hipsters, professionals and everyone else. A true cocktail bar.
