I traveled to Lynchburg, VA, with the goal of supporting outstanding black-owned businesses. I was eager to find food that would make me want to dance with joy! After consulting a blog post from the town's website, I compiled a list of places to try, but Home Cookin' wasn't on it. On a spontaneous decision while heading back to our lodge, I searched for "soul food" and discovered that Home Cookin' was nearby. It felt like a divine opportunity. The love-infused soul food at Home Cookin' truly inspired me.

The food was fantastic! Everything was delicious, including the BBQ chicken, baked chicken, meatloaf, macaroni and cheese, greens, yams, rolls, and cornbread. I can't wait to return during my next visit to the area!

I enjoyed my visit, though I have a few minor criticisms. The mac and cheese could use a little more salt, but the beans were delicious, as was the baked chicken. The BBQ chicken was fine, but nothing exceptional. The strawberry cake was a bit on the sweet side, while the banana pudding was very good. I look forward to trying the meatloaf on my next visit.

Amazing Food. Friendly and welcoming service! So happy to discover this excellent place in Lynchburg! BBQ chicken great. Yams are sweet, collard greens hardy and tasty, and solid mac and cheese. If you are looking for a home cooked meal that won't break your budget, this is the spot! Two thumbs up!
