There is a small market where you can shop, buy, and trade right in front of the restaurant. Sandra, the owner, is amazing and we even chatted about another restaurant I visited earlier in the week. I highly recommend visiting this place for a delicious breakfast. The prices are also very reasonable, making it a great spot for families to enjoy.
This restaurant is a cozy spot for breakfast and lunch, known for their delicious chili. They offer hotdogs, eggs, chili, and cheese in various combinations. They also have seven types of cakes available, although I personally recommend the pecan pie. I enjoyed two slices with coffee. The standout dish here is the flavorful chili, which is not too spicy. The service was quick and friendly, with a staff of two - a cook and a waitress - who efficiently took care of everyone. The atmosphere is casual, with all bar seats and ample free street parking outside. The restaurant is spotlessly clean, showing the owners' commitment to a tidy establishment.
Great location...I will definitely come back for the delicious cheesy bowl, Dog Walking, and James River. The food quality is rated 4 out of 5.
Next, I tried the famous Cheesy Western Burger. I have had a fried egg on a burger before and enjoyed it, but I found that the scrambled eggs on the Cheesy Western Burger with cheese and their house relish, which tasted like a mix of regular relish and mustard, did not enhance the flavor. The scrambled eggs lacked taste and their spongy texture did not complement the burger well. I found that the toppings overpowered the taste of the hamburger itself. I think there were also onion rings included with my order, but they were forgettable. The service was okay, as it was a takeout order. However, when I got to my car to eat, the food had already cooled to room temperature. Overall, I left feeling underwhelmed. Maybe the original location would have been a better experience. I may give it another shot in the future and try a different menu item. Unfortunately, I will not be ordering the Cheesy Western again. Despite the positive reviews, I personally did not see the hype.
I brought my mother, grandchildren, and son to this restaurant. The atmosphere brought my mother back to her childhood. I highly recommend it for a fun day out. The server was friendly and I loved how she called out the orders. The restaurant is also very kid-friendly, offering old-fashioned little hats for the kids and a children's menu.
