Thought to give this place a try since I was in the area. Had dessert right next to it during day time. Walked in here at night and learned it's owned by the same owner next door which is the dessert place. There wasn't a huge amount of people coming in the time I arrived but had to wait quite a while for the server to come and get the orders and even serve the actual food. I'm coming from a place that's not as diverse as Lynnwood, so I was expecting for the food to be better than where I came from. But it didn't made the cut for me, the Pad Thai tasted bland to me and the noodles was over cooked when it came out. However, the Pad See Ew had more potential, the thick noodles came out ok and could taste some umami flavors. You can request for an extra spice on the side as an option to give an extra kick on your food. Overall ambiance, it was not a very loud place. It's a small sized restaurant with overflowing artificial flower decor from the main entrance. Towards late evening they got a little busier with the online or by phone orders so the wait time to flag being addressed by the waitress took longer. Maybe needs an update on their dinning chair, since the kid behind me was a little playful and kept knocking it. I felt every push and pull on that backrest. At least the server was nice and pleasant despite being just on her own.
I haven't experienced Thai food this good this consistently in years! So frequently do I go to restaurants and order the same thing to have it taste like a completely different dish. I've come here at least 50 times since finding it and everytime I order, my food is fantastic and always packing flavor. My pseudoscience favorite dish is the chicken pad se ew, wide noodles, broccoli, carrots, eggs, and this spicy sweet sauce. It makes my hungry just thinking about it lol. My kids love the orange chicken, I even like it, it's balanced nicely so it isn't overwhelmingly orange. My husband's favorite is the pad Thai or spicy garlic chicken. The Thai iced tea is to die for, not to mention they are connected this swet moon. So you can get it grub on and then your dessert on. Both locations have excellent food and compliment each other nicely. If you've been wanting to try a new Thai place, wait no longer, you don't be disappointed.
Sadly, they are no more! I was quite surprised, but I know from the owner they were having a tough time staying profitable. I went yesterday (11/9) and everything was gone! All the outside signage, etc., so I am guessing they closed this location. The owner's husband opened the Asean Streat food court at Westlake Center last year, and her dessert shop is there. I guess the family also has a number of other Thai restaurants around the Sound. Still...Areeya's was my favorite stop! Very sad... I would recommend Zab Thai as a substitute: [hidden link]
I've been enjoying meals at Racha in Queen Anne since it opened over 20 years ago, and I've always loved it. So, I was excited to read the review in the Seattle Times about its sister restaurant run by the same family. I happened to be in the area getting my car serviced, so I decided to stop by for lunch. I ordered the Hung Lay Curry with pork belly, which is usually melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Unfortunately, mine arrived lukewarm and the pork belly was quite chewy. Since I was hungry, I ate some of it, but when the server checked on me, I mentioned that it wasn't hot enough. She didn't seem to understand what I meant. I ended up asking for it to be boxed to take home. The next day, when I reheated it, it was slightly better—most of the pork belly was okay, but I couldn't chew through two pieces. The flavor was overly sweet and only palatable when paired with a sliver of ginger in each bite. I paid $22 for this! From now on, I think I'll stick to Racha in Queen Anne.
