We decided to stay in the Chalet after a long day driving the Cabot Trail, upon arriving you pull into a beautiful property with a large archway and driveway that leads straight to the distillery. The building as well as the grounds itself are so magnificent that makes it seem you have hopped across the ocean to Scotland. We checked into our Chalet and were a little disappointed in the fact that the restaurant was only open seasonally which I feel they should state somewhere as there were not a lot of options open as we arrived just after 5pm.When we walked into the chalet we were immediately impressed as it was small but big enough for a couple and is super cozy. There is a wood fireplace to heat the chalet and a huge jacuzzi tub. Very nice spot for a couple. The next morning we walked onto the patio and was blown away by the view. Before checking out we did the tour of the distillery which is about 20 min. Our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, we wanted to leave with a bottle but it’s important to note that their cheapest available option is 80$ but is available at most liquor stores throughout the country. So if you want a bottle of whiskey that you can only get at the distillery you will be paying a pretty penny. The sales woman was a little pushy which can turn away most people. Other than that, I do think you are paying for the experience but I am glad I experienced it.
Excellent lobster dinner and the poutine braised in whisky and red wine was also excellent. Not highly overpriced. The tour is basically a $7 taste but that’s what they sell it for anyway and you get a bit of insight. Great stop for a few hours. Music starts in the evening if you’re staying over
The tour is short, but it is worth it. they should go into the bar and try their whiskys. the torf one and their most popular are really good!
Outstanding food and service. They accommodated our family with young kids. Our kids say this was the best and fanciest restaurant on our Cape Breton vacation
