The food is delicious, though the menu isn't particularly diverse, which is expected for a brewpub. The poutine is outstanding—definitely go for the duck gravy, and don't forget to add cheese curds on top! The beef pot pie is packed with meat, and the last special they had was a ribeye, which was fantastic. They also serve one of the best mushroom Swiss burgers around; unlike many places, they handle the mushrooms perfectly. As a hop enthusiast, I think their IPA, Mosquito Bite, stands out among my favorites. If you spot Thunder Lizard on tap, definitely give it a try—it's an oak-aged Belgian Quadruple that blew me away! Kudos to Nate for that one!
I finally made it to Rockhound, and I can’t believe I waited so long to visit! The food is delicious, and the beer is fantastic, all in a relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff. If I were still living in Madison, I would come here all the time. The scotch ale was exceptional—definitely a testament to Nate's dedication to quality. The burgers were just what I was craving, and the Guinness cake was absolutely amazing. Plus, it’s quite affordable for Madison. This place is truly a hidden gem!
Rockhound is a great new addition to the Park Street neighborhood. The food and beer are excellent, and the atmosphere is delightful! The staff is friendly and welcoming. Whether you're in the mood for a delicious dinner or a cozy spot to savor a local beer, I highly recommend Rockhound Brewing Company!
The service was quick, loved the menu and was most excited that I found a place that actually cooks a burger medium rare! I had the Bluestone burger which had so many great flavors, the seasoning on the fries was great also.
GO TO HERE! They are brewing up some world class beer at Rockhound. I had one of the most balance smoked porters I've ever tasted. The hoppy selections run the gamut of varying hop profiles, from piney and resinous, to citrusy and well-balanced, to floral, dry and bitter. Nate also takes care to make sure the beers are properly conditioned so you aren't drinking keg sludge or a yeast sample. There is something on the menu you will like. High quality all around, top to bottom, including solid food and a friendly and attentive staff.
