Konnichiwa, Mangetsu! I was a bit scared that we might not have seats given we're meeting on a Saturday so I made sure to reserve a table for 6 the day before. I was expecting a full house but there were still a few tables left vacant when we arrived. I love that they welcomed me by first name. It made me feel like a regular customer. ???? It took us quite some time to decide on what to order as there were a lot to choose from. I noticed that they even have a menu for cheese dishes! *Calling all cheese lovers!* After a few more minutes, we finally ordered the following: Deep-Fried Breaded Prawns (PHP490), Karaage Fried Chicken Thighs (PHP380), Cheese Gyoza (PHP320), Salmon Sashimi (PHP430), California Maki (PHP250/wrap roll... read more

So I ate here a couple of years ago with my Dad and we never came back. First off, maaan are the prices so steep! I’ve been to cheaper and quality joints in Makati.Next, it’s a fusion Japanese restaurant and it doesn’t pull off the concept well food-wise. It’s too experimental that it misses out on the simple, but classic, Japanese foodstuff people are so used to. Their sake was pretty good though, so much so that my Dad bought an entire bottle and kept it there in case we’d come back. Sadly that hasn’t happened yet.The ambiance – though – was pretty great. It reflected the meld of past and present with tiled floors mixed with shades of brown on the ceilings and walls. Various Nippon furniture hung on the walls for that unique post-modern Japanese vibe. But that’s pretty much it. Sigh.
