Food: 5 Stars (we tried the specials) Service: 4 Stars (friendly staff) Ambience: The main dining room has a more pub-like atmosphere, featuring a large bar with TV screens for watching sports. During our visit, there was a band playing (not sure if that's a regular occurrence), and they were extremely loud. It was so noisy that it was nearly impossible to have a conversation with our dinner party. Although we were dining late, we weren't the only ones in the restaurant at that time. As we left, we noticed there was a back dining room area with doors that could block out the music and the noise from sports fans. Overall, we plan to return, but next time we will opt for the back room, especially if there’s a major sporting event or live music happening. It’s definitely worth trying!
The service was incredibly disappointing; we waited two hours for our food. We had to ask four times for silverware before finally receiving it. The restrooms were in terrible condition, reminiscent of a porta potty at a rock concert. The staff, including managers, waitresses, and busboys, displayed a snobby, lazy, and disrespectful attitude. We were rushed out of our seats for a live performance, and it was frustrating to hear complaints from other patrons, even though the hostess had seated us. Some guests questioned the managers about why we were still at our table, incorrectly claiming we were lingering, when in fact, we were just waiting for our food. The chaotic atmosphere, with rowdy individuals even being sick in the bathroom, did nothing to compensate for the mediocre food. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
After another 10 minutes, the table was cleared, but instead of us being seated, a party of three was seated there instead. When I inquired about our table, I didn’t get a clear response. Shortly after, another couple arrived and were seated as well. After 45 minutes of waiting, we decided to leave. The hostess stepped outside to let us know that a table would be available very soon, but we thanked her and headed home instead. If it weren't for the fact that the person at the front was so young, I might have expressed my dissatisfaction more strongly. I can't help but feel that we were overlooked last night, perhaps because my husband was the only African American in the restaurant and not a notable figure. It seems that dining south of Mantoloking might not be the best choice.
This is the second time my friend and I have dined here, and both experiences have been fantastic. The Clas Ebby is absolutely wonderful, and I really enjoy the Ebby salad as well. Their entrees are unique and delicious. Both visits, we were too full for dessert, but I'm sure those are great too. The servers were very friendly and helpful each time. We will definitely return whenever we are in the area!
