Pickle Barrel - Markham

I visited the Pickle Barrel at Markville Mall for the first time in five years to take pictures for a friend's Christmas party. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they host parties in a spacious area with a stage, dance floor, and a great sound system for the DJ. The buffet style meal included a Carvery station with cranberry sauce, three types of chicken, two types of pasta, two types of potatoes, roasted vegetables, Caesar salad, and a variety of spices. The flavors were delightful and the meal was enjoyable overall.

I went out to eat with my son tonight. I only ordered a kids meal and a bowl of soup, but the wait for the food was much longer than expected. The restaurant needs more staff to improve the service. Unfortunately, when I brought it up to the manager, she didn't seem to care. The overall service was terrible.

The food at this restaurant was disappointing – it was lukewarm and seemed like it was not prepared with much care. I would not choose to dine here again.

Terrible experience from beginning to end. The service lasted so long and the food was terrible, cold and terrible plate presentation. It was like they just hit it on the record. The restaurant was not busy, so I'm not sure why the food was cold....We asked to talk to a manager and he was extremely rude and short with us. Tell us that it was impossible that the food was cold and that he could not do anything about it. I wasn't looking for a free meal, but I wanted to have my meal hot. He didn't fix it, and we just wanted to take it home where I could heat it myself. I paid the bill and left. I'll never return to another pickle barrel again. the service in this place is terrible and worse. I always hope it will be different, but unfortunately it is never. This restaurant used to be a family favorite, too bad it went down hills. With all the restaurants I would choose from, they would fix these problems.

First and last time I will ever order from here. I should have read the reviews first before ordering. I ordered the full rack of ribs with fries Had it delivered). I work hard for my money and I can't believe I paid for this...garbage. The ribs were not fresh at all. They were dry and looked like they were from the previous day or sitting for a long time. They were not juicy at all. The ribs were extremely salty. I felt like I was eating a teaspoon of salt and paprika with every bite. The fries were undercooked. How can you mess up fries? The coleslaw was ok however. I try to support local businesses but I will no longer support this one. If I am gonna drop 40 on a rack of ribs Including Tax, Delivery and Tip), I expect it to be fresh. I will say I was a frequent customer in the past Going back 5 years) and I had loved them. I hope this is a one off but I will never go back to them.
