I have eaten here before, because the setting downstairs is fairly nice.
This place is a dinosaur that should be extinct Food has a reputation in the area of being terrible and overpriced The reputation is spot on.
This restaurant is not my cup of tea. The bar/tavern was filled with loud, rowdy customers on a slow day. The tasting menu consisted of small, unimpressive portions, making it a poor value for money. The waitress incorrectly assured me that the green peppers in my clam chowder were mild, leading to a painful surprise when I bit into them. I was treated poorly and given only asparagus as a replacement. The service was lacking, as my water glass remained empty until I asked for a refill. The seating options were uncomfortable, with backless benches being the default in the tavern/bar. This is not a place for those looking for a hearty meal of protein and vegetables. The coffee was the only redeeming aspect of the experience.
The meal was divided into four plates. The scallops were cooked perfectly, but the sauce lacked aroma. The small amount of peas on the plate was difficult to catch. The beet platter was good overall. The tuna poke came with strings of kelp salad and sparse fries that did not have wasabi powder as expected. When asked for more chips, the response was unsure but ultimately returned with only four additional chips. It was odd that the smoked bluefish and avocado toast had bluefish on one slice and avocado on the other.
