Kathy has moved to new pastures, and it is now called Cocotte Cafe. The woman that used to do the cooking is still working there and another man and woman that I think might be the new owners as they both offered us a drink on the house. There are small changes to the menu but the piece de resistance is the rotisserie. A blackboard menu on the wall is where you 'll discover 1/2 roast chicken and chips, (Poulet rôti or Pollo arrosto in French and Italian respectively). The food is as good as it always was with the bonus of daily specials and the roast chicken which is superb, I had it five times in the two weeks we were there. The staff are very friendly and very accommodating. My wife one night just fancied something simple after eating out so often, she said to me I just fancy a chip butty , so I said come on, let 's ask. After trying to explain with our limited French and Italian, the staff 's limited English we got there. I wish now I 'd just showed a Google image of a chip butty but my brain was in holiday mode, ie; on a go slow. Anyway, I went for the the chicken which as usual was superb, and when my wife 's chip baguette came it was perfect. Baguette, butter and chips, no olive oil, no salad, exactly what she fancied, she munched the lot. I 'm sure if they have the ingredients they would do their best to accommodate your requirements so long as they aren 't too busy. We had the pleasure of Kathy coming in on one evening and she came over to ask us how we were, that was nice. 100% worth a visit, great unpretentious place with good simple honest food. Thank you for the food and especially the chicken Cocotte Cafe, we will be back. :o)
Location is perfect, on the way to the beach. We stopped here for a ‘quick’ lunch before heading to the beach. The cafe was full so we only ordered panini. The food was slow to come and two out of three meals arrived together, but we had to wait for another 4-5 minutes for the third meal to be brought to the table. The panini were tasty and the bill came to €17 including bottled water. The waitress was very nice and efficient. I think the delay in the food was not her fault, but to do with the kitchen. May be they were short staffed... this is the only thing that let the place down in my opinion. As Menton is a holiday destination, it is possible that the slow service won’t bother too many customers.
Only a small place but with great unpretentious food. The food is as tasty as anywhere in Menton where you will pay a lot more. We always come here more than anywhere else in Menton. Not every night but at least five nights and a couple of lunches over a two week holiday. We've had the omlette and it's lovely, I can not understand how anyone can call it awful. It's cooked perfectly. Probably the tastiest spag bol in Menton. Compliments to the chef.
We are in here for lunch whilst visiting the old town. Was a lovely place for lunch and a glass of wine. All freshly prepared and very reasonable.
My son and I stopped here to eat a piece and really enjoyed the delicious fresh crêpe and iced coffee. The service was very friendly.
