Everyone raves about this place, so I went in for a test run. 1st off every item on the actual menu is $3-$7 higher than what is listed on their official Google profile menu tab. The kids menu prices are the same as the old regular menu ... There 's actually a $14 kids menu item (no drink or side included). Let that set the stage. Now the atmosphere is akin to Mimi 's cafe, real fancy like. The staff and the food were pretty good overall, but I did have to ask for everything twice. And I do mean everything. The waiter definitely paid more attention the old money tables with pensions to spend than he did our young family table. I would go back, because the recipes are quality... it 's just crazy prices for pasta and bread, and the service was somewhat lackluster.
Apparently, Google permits business owners to moderate their reviews, and I think it's unlikely this will get published, but here we go anyway: Had dinner here with the family, and I've had dinner here on several occasions over the last 5-7 years. 8 positive experiences, but 2 latest were bad. The quality, rich flavor and overall taste I had come to expect was absent in most of the food today, 06/06/23. Everything was bland and lackluster. Objectively, the owners would do well to invest in finding a lead chef who has serious experience cooking Italian cuisine. If that's not possible, sending the one(s) currently cooking to job shadow skilled chefs preparing Italian cuisine would improve things too. Staff had the reservation name wrong, kept forgetting items we asked for, never refilled the water, but were very polite. Not sure what happened to the white table cloths and candles?...really gave the place a refined, elegant charm. Glancing at the tables now might make you feel like you're at a lowdown southwest taqueria. I know Gino isn't involved anymore, but I figured the current owners would uphold the legacy of the best Italian cuisine in the Boise metro area, and it's just not happening. If you're thinking about eating here, I'd say for the time being you'd probably save money and enjoy better food at an Olive Garden.
What an incredible hidden lunch spot! I had the delicious meatballs! The Italian romantic atmosphere was just a perfect vibe to re charge for the day. Definitely, a dinner datenight revisit will happen!
What a darling, family oriented restaurant. We had excellent service, and there was this one little girl, couldn't have been more than 3.5 feet tall, who impressed us to no end. I had veal saltimbocca served over gnocchi, and my sweetie had spag and meatballs. He believes these might be the best meatballs he's ever had. They were still moist inside, with a gentle brown on the out. My only complaint is about the bathrooms. They *ahem* do not go with the decor of the restaurant, itself. I was led to this place, because the chef went out of his way to make a chopped Italian salad for a friend of mine, on his day off. That effort stood out with my foodie group. I hope that ensalata it to the menu some day!
