Bob Evans - Merrillville

My daughter and I had lunch at this restaurant, and we were really impressed. The place was extremely clean, the food came out quickly, and it was delicious. Our server was both professional and attentive. The decor is beautiful, with lots of stunning artwork to enjoy while you unwind in a warm, family-friendly atmosphere that feels just like home. I highly recommend this restaurant, and I will definitely be coming back whenever I get the opportunity.

I LOVE Bob Evans! Never heard of it until I moved out to the Midwest, and then it became a trusted stop for lunch while on road trips. Fast food gets kinda old after a while, ya know? My favorite meal is the Soup Salad Combo for $5.99 with hearty beef vegetable soup for 120 cal and loaded baked potato for 470 cal. So heathy and delicious! Mm mm good. : You get a choice of bread on the side, so I opted for banana nut bread—which is more like cake and dessert than a “bread”, haha. Freshly baked and fragrant and moist with a lovely crunch of walnuts—it’s so good, we actually bought a loaf to take with us on the way out. Smart of them to put the bakery items right by the checkout cashier, lol. On this trip, it was a cold and rainy day, and our lovely server provided to-go cups so we could carry our hot drinks with us to warm us up on the way out. That was so sweet of her to offer that without us even asking.

Bob Evans is one of my favorite breakfast spots. I always get their blueberry pancakes, which are usually spot on... until today. They had way too many berries! My mom and I both ordered the same thing and ended up picking around the middle of the pancake. I was quite disappointed. On the bright side, my server was fantastic.

I walked in and went straight to the host stand, but the place was surprisingly empty. An employee behind the counter darted past without making eye contact. After standing there for a few minutes and almost deciding to leave, a waitress finally approached us and reluctantly confirmed our party size. At that point, I was worried this was a sign of how the rest of the experience would go. The table we were seated at was still wet from being wiped down, which was not exactly reassuring. We hadn’t eaten out for breakfast in a year, so I was a bit anxious. Fortunately, our server turned out to be fantastic! She was attentive and polite. The food came out quickly, hot, and delicious. The coffee was excellent too—another server even offered us a refill as she passed by, even though we weren't at her table. The staff definitely made up for the lack of a warm welcome.

The portions of turkey and gravy were very small, and the sirloin tips were mushy and not worth the price.
