Mawi Nola - Metairie

I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant, but I ended up feeling very disappointed. First of all, the menu is extremely limited—I've seen food trucks with more options. The food was bland; I ordered a baleada and the tortilla tasted store-bought. The pupusas also lacked flavor. I won't be coming back anytime soon, and I can't recommend this place. It's hard to call yourself a tortilla place when your baleada uses flour tortillas that aren't made from scratch.

This cozy Latin restaurant is bursting with flavor! I visited Mawi for the second time and shared several dishes with my friend. The owner gave us some great recommendations. We tried the Pork Tamale, which was delicious! The Birria Tacos were full of flavor and perfect for dipping in the broth. We also enjoyed the Chicharron and Queso Pupusas, as well as the Spinach and Cheese Pupusas; while both were tasty, I preferred the chicharron ones! They paired well with the slaw and red sauce that came with them. I couldn’t resist the Horchata—it was so good that I finished it quickly! They also have a fridge stocked with takeout options. I picked up the shrimp ceviche and tres leches. While I’ve had better, both were fresh and of good quality. I can’t wait to go back soon!

This restaurant serves the best birria and au jus in the greater New Orleans area. I've had only one disappointing experience out of the many times I've dined there. When I called, the manager was very apologetic and offered me a refund. The guacamole is also delicious, although it has a bit too much lemon juice and onion, which can overshadow the other flavors. However, the great customer service more than makes up for any less-than-perfect experience. I will definitely return!

Will is an amazing chef who plays with flavors and creates wonderful, flavorful dishes. Great service. Great food. I had never had Salvadoran food, so this was the best possible introduction. The atmosphere is casual and friendly.

Been there 4 times and every dish I tried has been delicious. Just had there Nachos with shrimp, Amazing! So many different flavors attack your mouth, enjoyed every bite..
