This is my go-to spot for Japanese cuisine. While it may be on the pricier side, the quality and taste remind me of homemade dishes from my grandma's kitchen.
I was in a rush, but the kitchen and the waiter were accommodating and quickly prepared my order. I decided to try the Japanese pasta, which was a unique choice for me. The flavor was good, and I enjoyed it until the oil started to solidify, making me question how much oil I had consumed. I gave the dish a score of 5 for taste, but 1 for health concerns. The dish had little resemblance to traditional Japanese cuisine, as it was heavily seasoned with strong flavors that were enjoyable but not characteristic of delicate Japanese dishes. The restaurant itself was small and clean with a modern aesthetic.
We have dined about 5-6 times in the last 6 months. the mark was the fresh of the dips, the clean aromes, the menu and the service. regrettably, everything went alongside the service on the hill! we didn't have there for. about 2 months, and when we arrived tonight, we were surprised by some new additions of the menu. Japanese style pasta?, that is a oxymoron in itself, and curry . we have decided not to try, and that was perhaps a wise step. we chose a few courts we were familiar with. ie. chicken gyoza, spicy edamame, miso soup, usda rib eye (medium rare,) sashimi tuna and grilled salmon steak. the gyoza came within seconds after the ordering that thought to me that they were microwave, through all conten the texture and aromen were good. the edamame was bad. there was no seasoning and dripping in a butter sauce. they couldn't pick them up when they were wet and greasy. they should be like a bar snack, crisp, simple and fresh. the miso was good, but nothing special. the mistsuppe had no tofu, which is a first. every other example I tried globally had tofu. the tuna sashimi looked bad and had a presumed gray color on it. I think it was either old or had been defrosted. either it was badly executed and we were not a game to try a disc. the usda rib eye was a scandal. there is no better way to describe it. the meat was an extremely bad cut, and I guess it was local bark, not imported. the bark was extremely fat and rissly (remove the picture where cubes of pure fat were obvious.) it was not possible. it was also well cooked, and became the princely sum of 750 php (usd $18) of the salmon was watery in texture and so-so in taste, clearly it was not freshly frozen, but who would know. I think the fact that we haven't eaten the 3 pieces is the certificate itself. the beer was cold, which is a plus. the personal was obligated and very apologetic when she noticed that 5/6 courts were hardly touched. we asked if the cook had changed and insisted that it was not the case. that surprises me when the new menu and bad eating shows a change to me. In summary, we will not go back. not recommended. stay away. spend their money elsewhere.
We bought 6 coupons last Nov 2012 in a group buying site. I was thinking that it can be a good chance to have a dinner with my friends and also have my advance bday celebration there. The deal costs P330 that is good for...3 people. We chose the food—set A which consists of Tonkatsu, 5-pieces Soy chicken Gyoza, 5-pieces Japanese meatballs, Tori Karaage, 3 Rice cups, 3 Miso soups, Potato salad, and Coleslaw. My friend called at the restaurant and reserved 5 coupons on Dec 8, 2012. Two days before our reservation, we decided to reserve also the left coupon. My friend asked one of the staff in Izumi if the reservation is already settled, and the girl staff replied yes. We had our reservation at 7pm. My other friends came there at 6:55pm, but I and the others are late and we arrived there at 7:45pm. Since we're late, we have seen that the waiters already prepared the foods on the table. My friend who holds the vouchers tried to ask the waiters if they can wait us before they prepare the foods, but they didn't grant my friend's favor. Aside from that, they didn’t even consider the voucher that we added to our reservation. They said that it was a late reservation, but my friend said that she called two days before our reservation, so how come our reservation was late? The waiter said that they will look if they can do something about it, but it ends to nothing so we just let things go through. We just hope that it won’t happen again to other customers. In terms of the restaurant, I can say that they have a good place. It is not actually big as we expected but they have a beautiful interior design, the ambience is really great. The foods are good, enough to fill the tummy. What I like most is their Tonkatsu and Tori karaage, perfect for Gohan rice!
