Food was very good, limited selection but very tasty especially for a speakeasy/bar. Coffee is a must, if you know anything about cuban coffee it's very strong and served just like that here, I recommend the cafe de leches it's not as bold as the regular. Wish I had room for dessert definitely have to go back just for that!
The ambiance of this place is really cool. In the basement, in what looks like a bank vault and you need a password to enter. Mobile needed this. Saxophone player was an awesome addition. For the food, it was good. Very pleased it wasn 't too salty because restaurants really get carried away with that, or they use low quality ingredients. Cuban sandwich needed a little more love but it was still pretty decent. Barbacoa was really good and they did a nice job with the blackbeans. Definitely recommend Las Floriditas to anyone wanting to break away from the norm.
I?ve been to a lot of speakeasy?s. This speakeasy fits in somewhere near the middle. Take the elevator (there?s a Las Floriditas mat on the ground in front of it) in the RSA Trustmark building to the basement and you?ll see the entrance to your right. This place gets really busy and seemed to have too few servers to handle the load. Since you can sit wherever you want, a particular server can get slammed with customers in a short amount of time. All that to say the servicewas quite poor. I suggest requiring reservations as some of my favorite speakeasy?s do. This will also give the customers a better experience instead of having guests stare at you constantly as they?re waiting to take your spot when youleave. Most speakeasy?s I have been to don?t serve food so having that option was fantastic. The food was fairly priced but I wouldn?t say it tasted all that great. The amount of cumin in the picadillo overpowered the entire dish. TheCuban sandwich was?a Cuban sandwich. The drinks were decent. Plenty of rum drinks of course but very few, maybe only one rum option that was not white rum. As the only speakeasy I could find on my visit to Mobile, I would say it?s worthchecking out.
I came in town for a night visiting from across the Bay and it was definitely worth it! The staff is what makes the place so enjoyable. Ryan, Anthony,Ray, and Roosevelt all deeply impacted our experience with their authentic kindness. We came at a slower time but it was enjoyable speaking to them and hanging out. They have live music fridays and Saturdays and I plan to come back. : Also 3$ appetizers during happy hour from 4-6? You can’t beat it!
Ryan is a fantastic server. Such an asset to this place. The Ropa Vieja was divine. We will be back!
