Mar Azul - Mogán

The Mar Azul is set a street back from the marina. You do not get the views but this is reflected in the cost. The ambiance is very much traditional fish restaurant. We shared the fresh fish of the day which was perfectly cooked on the barbecue giving it a delicate smokey flavour. It was served with salad, canarian potatoes and the best Mojo sauce we had all week. Highly recommended for great tasting food in a relaxed atmosphere.

We like to visit this restaurant as it is not so touristy as some along the marina or beachfront. It is pretty traditional however we have always had good food from the tapas menu. Avoid the Avocado/ Prawn salad though as this was very poor value and was tasteless.

We ordered calamari as a tapas dish from the specials board. I twice repeated that ' No thank you we don 't want that as a meal with potatoes and salad just as a tapas plate The full meals arrived and we explained that we had ordered tapas. A very angry waitress also I think the cook) took them away after arguing with us and the man who had taken my order shrugging his shoulders! The so called calamari appeared to be frozen breaded octopus rings which had the texture of rubber bands. I believe that Aldi and Lidl sell similar products for a few euros a sack.For this apology for a lunch including two small white wines and a small bottle of water we were charged over 40 Euros. It was quite frankly ridiculous and we felt as if we had been scammed. On reflection, we would have paid the same to sit with a beautiful view of the sea by the harbour side in one of the tourist cafes. This was very much a secondary location and the escalated price and very poor, rude service did not reflect that. My advice is to avoid Mar Azul if you can .

Tras una mañana paseando por su rastro en pleno mes de octubre del año en curso, pasando una calor de justica .... Buscando sombra y probar la comida típica del lugar. Nos preparan una mesa para 4 amigas, nos refrescamos con las cervezas de la isla.. Pedimos la comida, de la cual no tenemos nada que objetar mejillones a la marinera, gambas al ajillo, pulpo frito y queso frito con mermelada sino todo lo contrario... Lo que deja mucho que desear son los comentarios que hacía uno de los camareros, un poco fuera de lugar. Lo compensaba su compañero que si fue muy apañao. A la hora del café le pareció mal que fuéramos 4 personas y sólo 2 pidieran café... y cuando le preguntamos por la tarta que tenían en carta. le preguntamos si era tarta fría o casera al horno... también puso pegas y dijo que si porque era la que nosotras queríamos sin embargo una chica que también trabajaba allí y la que nos hizo los cafés, nos dijo que no que él no nos había dicho la verdad .. Hizo un comentario fuera de lugar, y luego intentó arreglar la cosa invitándonos a un ron miel.

La comida super buena, pedí pulpo frito con mojo y pan con ajo, estaba riquísimo. Calidad precio buena y los camareros excepcionales.
