The food, absolutely amazing. The decor, charming and warm and even romantic, downstairs .Upstairs, trendy, nice, new, excellent.Everything about this place was a plus for us and would recommend it to anyone.
We were here for a special meal. Overall things were ok, but certainly not special or memorable. We enjoyed the atmosphere and decor, but the service was unenthusiastic and the food, though tasty, had just about zero appeal in presentation. I ordered a seafood pasta for 25 $ which arrived in a soup/cereal bowl with absolutely nothing in the presentation to make it stand out. As I mentioned, the food was good, however at that price you may expect a little bit of a special touch to engage all the senses. My partner had a pizza which was reasonably priced and he enjoyed it. Overall an ok experience but as locals who enjoy dining out and trying various places, probably not somewhere we would go back to in a rush.
We were quite excited to try it out as we had heard lots of great things about the place but were told that the menu had changed.. Service is great, risotto was tasteless, wine is overpriced. With all the great restaurants in Moncton, I'm not sure we will be back!
Each person gets to order several small courses. Some were better than others. Fairly pricey. Not sure if I would go back.
We visited grotto on a wim as we were originally going to gusto but was intrigued by their menu when we walked in. The restaurant is fun and inviting and beautifully decorated. We had the frites with the most amazing aioli for dipping. Scallops, fennel sausage, and tender steak with salsa verde. The food was phenominal. Its a place where you order a few dishes off the menu and share. The plates came seperately and very slowly. Plates were uncleared at tables and the service was almost non-existent. We waited so long for our bill that we ended up having to go up to the bar and pay so we could leave! When looking around, other tables were experiencing the same treatment. We watched patrons have to clear their own table!! With some work on their service, this restaurant has amazing potential.
