I had Chicken Rice and my wife had Penang Laksa. Mine was the real deal. The soup makes or breaks Chicken Rice and this was fantastic. The Laksa was the best my wife has tasted outside of Malaysia and there was so much she could not finish it all. A must try.
Forget those idiot reviews comparing to Sydney, assuming what they were thinking, too noisy or not affordable enough. It's too noisy because it's popular! (U Egghead) Monkeys would not know good if it hit them in their face. If you are looking for good Malaysian food in Morley, it's this spot. Yes they are new, some service issues need to be ironed out. Food is delicious. Classic Malaysian dishes, Hainanese chicken rice and kueh tiao were good. Great addition to Morley. If this place is not good enough for you or you expect Michelin service you should go somewhere else. It's called 'Mamak' house, expect mamak styled dishes at very affordable prices. Keep up the good work MH!
Having been to mamak in Sydney, we were excited as we heard there was a restaurant just opened thats always busy called mamak house in perth. Walking in the decor was nice and being a Tuesday afternoon it wasnt so busy. We ordered a rotti with chicken curry and a char quay teo (not sure if i spelt that right).Anywho, wait staff asked if i wanted it hot and i said no, I'll have it mild. First bite felt like there was a chilli explosion in my mouth and i can handle chilli but this was hot to a point you couldnt even taste the flavours. I thought it might have been just that spoonful but second one - bam! same thing and then came the hiccups...My wife's rotti was ok, chicken was nice, curry was flavoursome but a bit oily. Edible but nothing to rave on about. My wife also had the teh tarik tea which was once again just ok.Service was towards the bad side. No serviettes were provided on tables and i watched a lady being mocked by cashier as she was asking for serviettes. Roll of the eyes and pointed as if "omg cant you see them over there". That's just what i witnessed but when it was my turn to pay the bill, i paid and as i waited for my change, cashier started talking to her sister maybe? and without even looking in my direction handed me my change and continued their conversation. Not a thanks, not a how was your experience, it was like i got your money now move on.Did we ruin the experience with high expectations comparing it to mamak in Sydney? Maybe. Will we be back? No. Why? Food was ok apart from 3rd degree chilli burns in my mouth, service was below average.
Menu is quite small but if you love noodles or rice dishes, this is the place for you. The prices are very reasonable and even though it is a very small restaurant, basically a little shop in the Morley Markets mall, the fact that you will see every table occupied by Asian people is a good indication of the quality of their food. My favourite is the Curry laksa but it is almost on par with the Fried Bee with Salted fish.
Noisy small place, service was good and fast, but the laksa I ordered very average, nothing special to make you wanting to go back there, I rather go to nearby restaurant outside named HOI BO is the best, many table and not cramped, food DELICIOUS as always or go to BULCREEK HAWKER is a he best in Perth for Malaysian Asian restaurant and good value too
