Slice of american cheese, ok beef patty with little to no seasoning, lettuce, onion, etc. The fries were terrible. Limp, soggy and greasy. The onion rings were average like the burger. Your run of the mill onion rings. Not bad, not great. Overall I give Al's 2 stars.Plenty of better places in downtown Morris to get lunch.
A real diner with real diner food. Best French Fries in the area.
Visited Morris for Winterfest and stopped here for lunch. Really wanted to love it, but it was not good at all. Service took forever. About 10 minutes after we finally ordered, server told me they were out of the catfish I ordered. I chose a Reuben instead, which came out with no Thousand Island dressing, completely dry. We waited 40 minutes for our food, and once it was dropped off we were ignored. No drink refills, no checking if we needed anything, nothing. None of the food was good other than the fries and soup. To top it off, I checked our bank account three days after our visit and we were charged twice! It was our first visit to Morris, which has a very nice little downtown area with many other dining choices. Wish we would have gone somewhere else.
Jump back into the 70's. When you step into Al's, it feels like you're visiting an old friend's house for a meal.If you want a sterile, post pandemic meal, Al's is not your place. If you want a bottomless coffee for a dollar, or a cheese omelet (complete with homemade hash browns and toast) for under $6, you're going to have plenty to talk about with the owner, who greets each table personally. We will definitely be going back. We haven't had a more pleasant experience since this whole pandemic-thing started.
We've been going to Al's for over 10 years. The food is always good and the prices can't be beat. Al and Maria make you feel like family!
