The restaurant is certainly worth the hype based on the onion soup alone! I had some minor gripes, but not enough to dock a star. We had the braised octopus, carpaccio, deviled eggs, crab bisque, and the scallops. My personal favorites were the deviled eggs and the whiskey onion soup. Both had crispy fried leeks/onions that really take the dishes over the top. The carpaccio is served with capers and quail eggs, and the portion is generous for the price. The crab bisque was tasty and my son's favorite dish. The braised octopus was cooked perfectly and the presentation was nice. If we're to suggest a change I'd say not to serve with a green tomato slice as the tartness takes away from the flavor of the octopus. The scallops though, while tasty, are grossly overpriced and so I can't recommend. $59 for 4 small scallops?! An excellent experience regardless and I hope to return again someday!
Really neat place loved the ambiance. The inside is kind of dark, but we ate lunch outside on the back patio/garden area. I HIGHLY recommend this area. We had a seat right by a little wall fountain. We were surrounded by beautiful plants and twinkling chimes. Just such a great spot for lunch or dinner. I had the peach iced tea, which was really good but inconsistently sweetened. I mentioned that to my server before we left and she gave me a to go cup of it, sweetened nicely for me to have as we walked around town. Very thoughtful. I had the deviled eggs appetizer and the warm chicken salad. The deviled eggs were delicious with bits of bacon on the plate. I personally like my deviled eggs with more of a kick, but these were still creamy and flavorful. My salad was mixed greens, topped with warm mushrooms and onions, and shaved parmesan. You can also get this with Filet steak. My friend had the crab bisque, which also comes with a small snifter of sherry to put on top. She said the soup was good. Her lunch was a shrimp salad sandwich on a croissant with homemade potato chips. The sandwich was quite large (enough for 2) and the chips were fresh. The only complaint was that the shrimp salad had A LOT of dill in it too much. She only ate half. I tried it and felt like it was too dill forward also, but still well made. Service was friendly and our server was on top of things. The restaurant is not inexpensive but it's a step up from your normal faire. I would definitely eat here again. Tips/Things to Note: 1) The bathrooms are unisex and they have 2 of them near the entrance. 2) There is an inside, upstairs and front and back patio. I highly recommend the back patio but the place gets crowded fast. We lucked out with our timing to get an outside seat.
4 of us friends from The Oak Run Community took a bus trip to Mount Dora for shopping, to see the area and have lunch, of course. After walking and walking by the endless sales tents and stores in Mount Dora we found a gem of a place for lunch at Goblin Market. This restaurant was obviously renovated from a former house, in itself...it is charming, beautifully decorated and aesthetically pleasing. There are outside tables, tables on the main floor and tables up stairs where we were seated. The stairs are a wee bit steep but there are railings to use for safety. Bairn, our server, was friendly, efficient, polite and gave us great service with a smile. I ordered a Savoury Chicken Sandwich with home-made chips...yummy! The 4 of us were more than satisfied with this choice to have our lunch.
What a cute spot in Downtown Mount Dora. We came by here for lunch and was not disappointed. We ordered the artichokes to start followed by the cashew chicken sandwich and the bruschetta burger. The cashew chicken sandwich was savory and sweet as it had a cranberry relish. The bruschetta burger was cooked to perfection. Our waiter was great. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and was very helpful.
