It all seems very cynical. The cold tajine is brought to the table and the lid is quickly removed. Only those who cannot cook for themselves (which I suspect is many people) would find this food to be "delicious". The dolmades were overly hot and messy, almost as if they had been microwaved before quickly being served. The restaurant in Vic Park seemed better before it closed down, but this new location is definitely a place I will never visit again.
The vegetarian platter was good . We did not like the tajine with aubergines as the aubergines were undercooked and the whole dish was totally tasteless. The haloumi with pomegranate molasses was good. The grilled prawns, chicken served with chips was good
The food at this restaurant is fantastic! We loved every dish we tried that evening. The dolmades, cauliflower, and prawns were particularly delicious. The prices are reasonable; we will definitely be returning!
This was a family group of 7 including grandparents teens. Good breadth of menu choice. Reasonable prices. Food is fabulous . Mashawi Grill was enjoyed by 2 adults. Mashawi Lamb cutlets was selected by hungry teenage lads. All reported great taste plentiful. Vegetarian dishes chosen were Black Fez tangine and Lentil Rice tangine. both can be highly recommended. If you want alcohol, it is byo and if you only realise that after arrival there is a bottle shop just up the road
Firstly, I want to mention that the restaurant is now located at 550 Beaufort Street, not 644 Beaufort Street as advertised on their website. They have not updated their website and did not inform us when we made a reservation. It is evident that they have not been located at 644 Beaufort for some time. The food at this restaurant is fine, however, during my visit last Saturday, there was no opportunity for social distancing as the tables were closely packed together. Additionally, at 7:30, there was a belly dancing performance where the dancers were very close to the tables, and customers were encouraged to participate. The lack of social distancing is concerning, especially during this critical time with the outbreak in Victoria and New South Wales. It is important to prioritize the safety of yourself and your loved ones, so I would advise against dining here. The restaurant appears to prioritize profit over safety, and I plan to report this to the authorities.
